  • Round Top-Carmine ISD is a Class 1A school district consisting of 133 square miles located in northeastern Fayette County. We are approximately 65 miles east of Austin, 91 miles west of Houston, and 51 miles southwest of College Station. There district consists two campuses located in two rural communities. The elementary school is located in Round Top, which has a population 90. The high school is located in Carmine, population of 250. The two communities are known for agriculturally based economy, bed and breakfast accommodations, antique weekends, The Festival Hill Institute at Round Top, and the Winedale Shakespeare Festival.

    RT-C ISD student enrollment is approximately 250 in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12, consisting of 70% Caucasian, 23% Hispanic, 3% African American, 3% multi-racial, and 1% Asian/American Indian/Pacific Islander. The district is known for its perennial play-off teams in athletics, state championship volleyball teams, and major livestock show winners.  RT-C ISD has a strong history of excellence in education with exemplary ratings from TEA.
