There are two types of instructional models for the ESL Program. The content-based model allows for students to be served in the classroom with ESL certified teachers. Pull-Out English as a Second Language programs remove students from mainstream classrooms for a portion of the day in order to give them specialized instruction in English (McKeon, 1987). At RT-C Elementary, 64% (9 out of 14) of our teaching staff is ESL certified, as is the principal. Also, 100% of our staff, both professional and paraprofessional, is Seidlitz Sheltered Instruction certified.
